Amecon Overview

Amecon is one of the largest UK Anime conventions that quite often runs for 3 days every even calendar year. This convention is dedicated to fans of Japanese Culture, Anime and Manga.

Amecon 2006 Pitures and Images

It features many events, special guests, Anime screenings, Cosplay Masquerade is one of the most popular events and the dealers room is always a busy of all the selling and buying of Anime and Japanese related goods like DVDs, Clothing, Manga Books and Japanese Candy. The last event in 2008 attracted a record 1500 people over the three day weekend during 8th - 10th August.

The first Amecon was held in 2004 and the last convention took place in 2008 at Leicester University, normally the convention runs in even years to allow Ayacon to run in its odd number of years. Ayacon was supposed to be hosted in 2007 but due to unforeseen circumstances the event was not been scheduled but Amecon 2007 ran instead of its absence.

Amecon 2008 drew an attendance of 1500 members an increase from the expected 1200 making it biggest attendance so far, this is now the fourth and latest Amecon convention held in the UK. During the end of the 2008 Convention, at the closing ceremony revealed a special guest, one of the Aycon committee members who announced the return of Aycon for 2009. This means that Amecon will take a break after running for 3 consecutive years and will make a return in 2010 according to their website.

Ayacon's committee has confirmed the date of the convention for Friday 14th - Sunday 16th August at the University of Warwick Arts Centre, more information on Ayacon can be found here. Ayacon 2009 has started taking registrations and has 1250 places available.
